About Us

Hamer Law Group is a probate administration and litigation focused law firm that regularly handles estate, trust, guardianship and conservatorship matters. We are passionate about helping clients in difficult and challenging situations such as the loss of a loved one, caring for an incapacitated relative or disputes over family businesses and property. Centrally located in Birmingham, our attorneys have been privileged to work on probate matters and litigate cases in counties across Alabama.

We work hard to help our clients navigate a variety of legal issues, including: opening estates, probating wills, estate administration, will contests, estate and trust litigation, guardianships, conservatorships, summary distributions, estate claims, ancillary estates, probate support for litigation, quiet title actions, business transactions and civil litigation.

Christopher S. Hamer

Chris, a Birmingham native, regularly advises and represents clients on a broad range of legal issues, including: probate and estate matters, civil litigation, arbitration, business transactions, contract disputes, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, probate support for personal injury litigation, estate administration, estate and trust litigation, and taxation.

He has been recognized by Birmingham Magazine in its Top Attorneys list in the areas of Probate Law (2017, 2018) and Tax Law (2017), and was selected to the 2018 Mid-South’s Rising Stars by Super Lawyers for Estate & Trust Litigation. Chris maintains the highest Avvo Rating of 10.0 – Top Attorney, and has been recognized with Avvo’s Clients’ Choice Award (2012, 2017). Additionally, the firm has been selected as one of the 18 Best Birmingham Litigation Attorneys (2017 and 2018) by the website Expertise.com.

Chris received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Commerce & Business Administration, with a concentration in Small Company Management, from the University of Alabama in 2005. After earning his undergraduate degree, he worked as General Manager of Sports Transportation for over seven years, and successfully negotiated the sale of the company to an industry peer in 2011. Chris received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Birmingham School of Law, graduating with honors in 2010. After completing his law degree, he attended the University of Alabama School of Law and received his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation, graduating cum laude in 2013, with a concentration in Business Tax.

He is admitted to practice in Alabama state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, and the U.S. Tax Court.

Chris lives in Birmingham with his wife, Beth, and three daughters, Abbey, Olivia and Charlotte. He is a member of Canterbury United Methodist Church in Mountain Brook, where he serves on the board of the Child Development Center.

ATTORNEY

Rebecca M. Wright

Rebecca concentrates her practice on opening estates, probate administration, probate support for personal injury and wrongful death cases and civil litigation. Prior to joining the firm as an associate, Rebecca worked as a law clerk at Hamer Law Group for more than 3 years and gained a significant amount of experience in the areas of probate administration, estate and trust litigation, guardianships/conservatorships, and other civil litigation matters.

While in law school, Rebecca was listed on the Dean’s List, a member of the National Trial Team, and a Trial Ad Executive Board Member. She was an active member of the Career Development Advisory Board and served as Arbitration Director during her 3L year. Rebecca strengthened her research and litigation skills though internships with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, the 10th Judicial Circuit of Alabama – Civil Division, and General Counsel/Compliance at GreenSky Financial. Drawing from her previous career experience in brand development and advertising at companies, such as: Y&R New YorkBBDO AtlantaMartin Retail Group, and lululemon athletica, Rebecca knows the importance of relationships, strategy, negotiation, and problem solving.

Outside of work, Rebecca creates time for traveling, serving the local community through the Junior League of Birmingham, The Bell Center Junior Board, hot Pilates and yoga, and spending time with family.

CASE MANAGER

Kaitlyn M. Puzzitiello

Kaitlyn joined Hamer Law Group in November of 2018 as a Case Manager, assisting with document review and organization, monitoring deadlines, drafting correspondence, and interacting with clients.  Prior to joining the firm, Kaitlyn worked in Governmental Public Relations at Direct Communications, focusing on building coalitions, running campaigns, and raising awareness in the public administration realm for Alabama. 

Kaitlyn also worked as a contracted employee for the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, tasked with traveling the state of Alabama to understand the current state and needs of this industry, working in workforce development, job creation and retention, and tasked with start to finish project of bringing new companies to the great state of Alabama. 

Outside of the office, Kaitlyn makes time to play golf, travel, give back to Samford through their Young Alumni Board, and Tampa, Florida to spend time with her family.

Keith R. Lee

Keith is the founder and editor-in-chief of Associate’s Mind, one of the most popular legal blogs in the US. Associate’s Mind has been linked to by the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, BBC, ABA Journal, and many other media outlets. Associate’s Mind was selected as one of the “Blawg 100″ by the ABA Journal for 2011 and 2016. Keith also writes a weekly column for Above The Law for many years.

Keith is the author of The Marble and the Sculptor: From Law School to Law Practice, published by the American Bar Association. He is currently working on another book that will be published in the future6.

Keith was also selected to serve on the Editorial Board of the ABA Young Lawyers Division magazine, The Young Lawyer for the 2013-2014 session. He served as an advisor to the ABA YLD Assembly Speaker 2014-2015. He currently serves on the advisory council of IAALS‘ Foundations For Practice initiative.

In 2016, Keith was selected to be the co-chair of the Birmingham Bar Association’s Transitions Committee.

Keith lives with his wife, Charlene, and his son, Aidan, in Cahaba Heights.
