W. Alan Duke, Jr.
Alan Duke is an experienced litigation and appellate attorney who brings a unique background in engineering to the cases he handles at Hamer Law Group, LLC. He has been recognized by Birmingham Magazine in its Top Attorneys list in the areas of Appellate (2017, 2018), Rising Star (2017, 2018) and Personal Injury (2017), and was selected to the Mid-South’s Rising Stars by Super Lawyers (2019).
Prior to becoming an attorney, Alan gained close to a decade of experience in the construction industry that included handling project management, estimating and payment issues. That experience has translated to success in his role as an attorney representing clients in business and construction-related litigation.
After graduating law school, he served as corporate counsel for a construction company in Florida before returning home to Alabama to practice alongside Chris Hamer when Hamer Law Group, LCC first started. To expand his legal career, Alan joined Belt & Bruner, P.C. in 2015 to further his litigation experience by handling complex and technical product injury and other types of serious personal injury or wrongful death cases.
In 2019, Alan accepted the opportunity to bring a valuable and different perspective to the cases he handles at Hamer Law Group, LLC, as well as a sharp mind and attention to technical details. He strives to stay at the forefront of not only legal developments, but also technology that can affect how cases are pursued.
Since 2012, Alan has served as an adjunct professor in the Building and Construction Technology department at Jefferson State Community College, where he teaches Contracting and Construction Law. Outside of his law practice, he enjoys being involved with community organizations that advocate for and help underprivileged children.
